WHAT’S WRONG WITH HIRING A GHOST WRITER?
Why do so many people nowadays question the act of hiring a legitimate book, music or screenplay ghost writer? They act like it doesn’t matter if you disparage someone for doing this. It’s a big deal to me, and it should be a big deal to you, that I really am an affordable and experienced ghost writer and editor.
By “big deal” I mean in the sense of it being something important. Ghost writing is an underrated and much-maligned field, where people accuse ghost writers of somehow “doing all the work” when they ghost write a book, screenplay, manuscript or music piece. In fact, just the opposite is the case – we only assist our clients with their undeveloped writing projects.
The author clients, as we ghost writers like to call our clients, are the original authors and creators of their works, and in fact they do a lot of the writing work on them. In many cases, a ghost writer is practically a coauthor of the book or script in question – and this should not even be questioned in the first place. Ghost writing work is perfectly legal under “work for hire” statutes in the USA and most other countries. It’s considered to be a case of when you hire a professional writer to work on your project, just like when you would hire a professional mechanic to work on your car.
Just because you own a car that doesn’t mean you have to work on it yourself. Most people are simply not professional mechanics, nor are they professional writers or editors. So ordinary people who don’t have the time, the desire or the ability to produce professional-sounding written copy often turn to professional screenplay, music and book ghost writers to assist them. In many cases, this pertains to a ghost writer being only an editor for the author client’s original copy; the author usually makes some type of major contribution, such as all of the original ideas for the piece.
So the next time you hear, “Oh, he had to hire a ghost writer, so he’s not really a book author,” please agree to disagree. There is nothing whatsoever wrong with anyone’s reasons to hire an affordable, expert ghost writer or editor for the book, screenplay or music piece in question, and no reason to question the practice of using a ghost writer to increase visibility, marketability or sales potential. Go ahead, hire a ghost writer for the work you need to market professionally – don’t bog down in it while desperately needing professional assistance to get your wonderful work produced!
